Located on the western Chesapeake Bay in the quaint, historic county of Mathews, Virginia, the Chesapeake Bay Paddling Company can have you on an unforgettable sea kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, or kayak fishing adventure in minutes. Our waterfront location along one of the area's premier estuaries and the Mathews Blue Water Trail is considered to be one of the most pristine, beautiful, and uncrowded destinations on the East Coast.

Our over two hundred miles of shoreline includes quiet marshes, historic watermans' harbors, old shipbuilding sites and steamboat wharfs, and of course, lighthouses. The waters around Mathews County, Virginia are home to hundreds of varieties of coastal seabirds and marine life. Osprey and Bald Eagles abound, as do herons of all kinds, egrets, tundra swans, snow geese, Skimmers, Oystercatchers, Peeps -- it's a veritable birdwatcher's paradise. Dolphin and Cow-nosed Stingrays sightings are common, and you might even see the occasional river otter.

For the kayak fisherman, the accessible and nearly endless marshes, sea grass beds, shoals, and deep water drop-offs provide ample habitat for sea trout, rockfish, puppy drum, flounder, and croaker.

Thrill seekers will find plenty to love about our Bay waters as well ... when the wind is up and tides run strong, the shoals around Gwynn's Island, Winter Harbor, and New Point Comfort can put a skilled paddler's training and experience to the test.

So whether you are looking for a leisurely paddle in search of abundant wildlife and serenity, the chance for your catch of a lifetime, or the thrill of paddling the open Chesapeake Bay, we have the equipment, experience and knowledge to take you there.
